Grange Os — Privacy Notice

Grange OS stores all of your farm records, photos and documents on your own computer (in %LOCALAPPDATA%\GrangeOS). We do not collect, upload or sell your data. There are no accounts, analytics or advertising.

The app contacts these services only when you use the related feature:

• Weather (Weather page): your farm's latitude and longitude (rounded to 4 decimal places) are sent to MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (api.met.no), to get a forecast. The request also names the app and its version.
• Maps (Land page): map images are downloaded from the US Geological Survey (basemap.nationalmap.gov), which sees your IP address and the map area you view.
• Place search on the Land page map works offline. Nothing is sent.
• Location search in the setup wizard works offline. Nothing is sent.
• License activation: your license key is sent to the store you bought from (Gumroad) to activate and periodically re-check the license.
• Update check: the app requests a small version file from our server. The request includes the app version.

Phone sync (optional, off until you turn it on in Settings → Phone sync):

• Records and photos are copied between this computer and the phones you pair, directly over your own local network (Wi-Fi). They are not sent to us or to any cloud service.
• Requests are signed with a key created when you pair, so other devices can't request or change your records. The traffic itself is not encrypted, so use phone sync only on a network you trust.
• To find this computer again after its network address changes, a paired phone sends a short broadcast on the local network.
• You can remove a phone at any time in Settings → Phone sync.

Crash and error logs are written only to your computer (%LOCALAPPDATA%\GrangeOS\logs) and are sent to us only if you choose to.
